A Little About Precious Miseries Orphans

Goths, Punks, Visual Kei addicts and Lolitas of all sorts will find something in common with the orphans of Precious Miseries Manor. These stylized and alternative characters each have a personality all their own, which is reflected in the way they dress. Whether they have good or bad natures, each orphan has his or her own quirk or misery. Everything from ragdolls with compassion for dead creatures to Lolitas who literally break people's hearts, this series has something for everyone.

Ever feel that you are misjudged just because you look different and like it? Join Lil Goth for a chat and she'll tell you all about her experiences. Feel like you just chose the wrong sorts of friends, but don't want to leave them? Lil Jester is the orphan for you. Embarrassed about your sibling's very existence? Well, Lil Gothica wouldn't show much sympathy for your plight, but she'd still relate with your pain. Ghosts, undead, dolls of every kind and all the unwanted are never turned away from Precious Miseries Manor.

You can enjoy the company of these orphans yourself, all you need to do it adopt one and give him or her the love they need. Two 16 inch plush dolls are just waiting to find souls that they can share their hobbies and miseries with. You can find Precious Miseries dolls online for around $20.00.

I sincerely hope that people around the globe can embrace Precious Miseries and help it grow to become a series loved and supported by all. I think that my girls have had enough misery in their lives and deserve to be loved.

A Message from Melissa

My growing interest in Japanese fashion styles such as Gothic & Lolita, Elegant Gothic Aristocrat, Visual Kei and Kodona was my first step into the world of Precious Miseries. Captivated by magazines such as the Gothic & Lolita Bible, Gosu Rori and Fruits, as well as alternative band fashions, I built a mental library of visuals that could be used for future reference.

Before creating Precious Miseries, I dabbled in the ways of American Punk, Goth, and Aristocrat and, briefly, with the Japanese Gothic Lolita. My love for alternative wear fueled my desire to create cute and gothy character designs. After drawing the first series of seven Precious Miseries girls, I delved deeper into the Japanese fashion scene. I was even more intrigued than I had been before and I put together outfits inspired by Japanese EGL , EGA, Kodona and, my more recent love, Visual Kei (Jrock). From the research I conducted, the clothes I made and fashion designs created for future costumes, I was able to continue designing fresh new Precious Miseries characters.

Even to this day, if I am in need of inspiration I always look on the web for Victorian, Punk, Cyber, Visual Kei and or Gothic Lolita images. Sometimes I follow the rules of these fashions, while others I will take what I like about certain styles and make my own creation based off of them.

Recently I've been drawn into the world of the pirates and ninjas, which is a popular clash of today's young culture. I've created pirates, ninjas and pinjas of my existing characters in Precious Miseries; StiTcheS included! We'll see where that leads. Originally, I didn't mean for Precious Miseries to become an in depth storyline; I simply had the momentum to produced character after character of all these fashions floating through my mind. It was during my senior year of art college that I decided to seriously pursue my fashion characters. I wanted something stylized and new; something that wasn't already out there. So, I submitted my second semester's thesis with the intention of creating marketable designs, based off fashion to sell at yearly conventions. Thus Precious Miseries was born. Little did I know that my hard work and un-daunting determination would soon be recognized.
